The Electric Vehicles Initiative (EVI), launched under the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) in 2010, is a multi-government policy forum dedicated to accelerating the global adoption of electric vehicles (EVs). By electrifying the vehicle fleet, EVs enhance energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and improve air quality. The EVI focuses on several key goals:
- Policy Consensus: It outlines a vision for electric mobility, building consensus on policy objectives such as the EV30@30 campaign, which aims for 100% new EV sales by 2030.
- Geographical Expansion: Through capacity building and knowledge sharing, the EVI accelerates policy deployment across the globe.
Integration with Renewable Energy: EV charging infrastructure can serve as distributed energy storage, supporting renewable energy integration.
