The Green Grids Initiative (GGI) aims to accelerate the construction of infrastructure for a renewable energy-powered world. It involves continental grids connecting energy-rich locations, smart grids with EV charging points, and micro-grids for rural areas. The GGI collaborates globally to address grid challenges and opportunities. At least 3000 gigawatts of renewables projects await grid connection, and global grid investment must increase significantly. The GGI, launched alongside India’s One Sun One World One Grid (OSOWOG), focuses on building resilient, sustainable, and affordable electricity grids capable of handling variable renewables.
